Tom sent this to me to be posted in the "In Memory" section.
I heard from Claudia Cullen's sister that she died of an aggressive cancer on August 22. Claudia attended Holcomb Elementary before graduating with us in 1960. She received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Wayne State University. She was an English and Latin teacher in the Detroit Public Schools. Claudia was very involved in the anti-war movement during the Viet-Nam war. I can remember standing on Woodward Ave. waiting to cross while a huge protest march went by. There was Claudia front-and-center. She waved and said, "Hi Tom". I waved back. After retiring Claudia moved to Boyne City to be near her sister and her niece. While in Boyne City she was very involved in raising money for a local library. Afterwards she worked part-time at the Boyne City Library. It was always fun to talk to her about movies and books that we had seen and read. Claudia was always interested in what my two children and three grandchildren were doing. She will be missed.
