After graduating from Redford, Karen received her Bachelors Degree from Olivet University and Masters Degree from London School of Economics. Karen had a career in medical research, helping to develop the mumps vaccine and performing cancer research at Brown University and running a cancer research lab at Sloane Kettering. Karen used her love of writing and medicine to open her own medical writing company with major pharmaceutical company clients all over the world. Karen was also an accomplished poet with her work published in literary publications like Ploughshares and in her own book Rothko's Overcoat. More than anything though, Karen loved her family and living life to the fullest. Karen lived in Ireland and London, instilling in all of them a love for travel, resourcefulness and family. She loved to garden, bake and read. Her favorite place was their home on Matinicus Island Maine where she could watch the lobster boats come in.
