There is a lengthy article about him in today's Free Press. August 2024 Talks about his impact on Detroit with the Traffic Jam and his partner, Ben Edwards.
They kept hope alive during the hard times. A public memorial for Richard will take place from 5:00-8:00p.m., on Monday, at Motor City Brewing Works.
470 W. Canfield St., across the street from Traffic Jam & Snug in MIdtown! Nancy
if I were in Detroit, I would go to the memorial. Richard and I sat in study hall together writing notes and laughing. Still have some of those notes. I remember that we all knew he was gay when he started signing his name with a small ‘r’. What a dancer he was at the reunions. I had never been to the Traffic Jam but went there at our last reunion when we did the tour. I even have photos of Sally, Nancy, Karen and I. Sally gone too. Nice obit in the Detroit Free press. Again, Nancy, thanks for passing on. Such memories and a great guy he was! Jane
So sad to hear this. Ted and I visited him in Key West. He actually picked out our hotel for us. We went to his very interesting house and then to dinner. No surprise he knew just about everyone we encountered and a complete history of their lives! He stayed with me for the last reunion he attended. My family all came for Sunday dinner and we’re in hysterics talking to him. Such fun and fond memories. Pat
So sad….I met him for lunch a few years ago in New York with Anne Lindeman and Nancy Lewis and find it impossible to believe they are all gone. Reminisced about our “date” in DC on the Bovill trip….we were so excited as we passed for 21 there and we were served! Did go to Traffic Jam often when he owned it and loved it and he was a joy. Fond memories…. Karen
