I'm so sad to tell you that Tom was diagnosed with small cell cancer in early summer. This cancer is rare and very aggressive but responds well to chemo. It did so with Tom. He was doing very well but once treatment was concluded, it came back like wildfire. Last Wednesday, he went into emergency. By 3:30 pm the next day, most of his systems had shut down. He slipped away peacefully shortly after 6 p.m. with Elizabeth, Kirk and myself at his side. He never suffered any pain for which we are grateful.
There will be a small funeral service for Tom in the Baltimore area. Then he will be flown to a cemetery in Ann Arbor where he will be buried. There will be a memorial service for him in Farmington Hills, Michigan on Jan. 18 at 4:00 p.m. at Pine Hill Congregational Church. Pine Hill shares a building with North Congregational Church on 12 Mile Road. If you'd like to attend, use directions for North church.

Tom will be sadly missed by our Reunion Committee. He has been a great help in the planning of our 50, 55, 60 and 65 Redford Class of 1960 Reunions. His service is next Saturday, January 18, 2025. Please see details in Susan Anderson's message.

My brother John and I shared many great childhood memories with Tommy and Jimmy Anderson. So sad to hear of Tom"s death.

Severl years ago Tom sent me a handwritten personal note about the 60th reunion. He included his email. I responded and we developed a strong relationship that started with that note. We corresponded reguarly from then until he passed. We spent a fair amountof time on the phone in what turned out to be his final months. Although I don't think either of us really knew it would be his final months.
Tom amazed me with the breath of activities that he and Susan were engaged in. Music, the Arts, books. Children and Grandchildren. Being diagnosed with Cancer is never good news. Tom handled it with, in my opinion, impressive strength and calm. I was always impressed by his fortitude. And I am grateful that my friend didn't suffer.
I will miss you.

Bob, your note on Tom Anderson and the previous one on Martha Batey were well written and, most importantly, interesting. – eff
