UM dentistry, pediatric dentistry, then academic administration. Retired I’m 2017. Now part-time educator, and Institutional review board chair at NYU Langone Health.

In truth, high school was a way station on the way to college and out of Detroit. Still, I have some good memories. Cliff White was a great mentor and led me to find a small dramatic part of me. That part has grown over time. I recall Red Hi-Y and the Blazer with the most fondness. I remember a few great teachers.

Overall, coming from the poorer part of the district, I envied the "rich kids", loved Barbas Drug Store, chatting up girls, and wishing the acne would disappear. I am grateful for the education I got in the public schools

John C Lodge. Anyone ever hear of it? I did a nostalgia drive when I was in Detroit on business a few years back. I was so sad seeing many parts of the city so changed, grateful that Rosedale Park looked livable, and seeing my elementary school and neighborhood looking scary because so much looked the same.

I got married in 1968, had children immediately and worked hard to build a successful pediatric dental practice in Ann Arbor, MI; and, an academic career. To this moment, I love being a dad! I have 4 grandchildren and I'm mystified that I can possibly have grandchildren. It's so cool!

I have done a fair amount of travel professionally and I've been around the world, except for China and Australia.

In 1988, I came out of the closet, i am openly gay, married, and have great friends . In 1991, I was recruited to a position and NYU and stayed in that job for 10 years. In 2001, I resigned my associate dean position and was given the chance to build my dream job. I have an awesome life in NYC and love living here more than I can describe. In 1998, I bought a little house by the beach in Madison, CT. Now retired, I live in Madison.

I have great memories of Detroit and Michigan. I am grateful that I got an amazing education that stimulated my intellectual curiosity, provided a solid background and equipped me to develop and grow over the years. I am sad that Detroit has died because a part of me died too. I have been fortunate to have many opportunities that took me to different places.

When the invitations for a 50 year reunion surfaced, I just kept doing the math to convince myself that I was eligible for a 50 year reunion. I kept thinking about my mother going to her 50 year reunion and thinking 'My god, my mother was *OLD* when she went to it.'

I have been blessed with good health, manage my health carefully, and love my life. Sorry that I could not make the trip for the reunion.

My funniest memories are about sports. I was completely dedicated to being a jock but genetically it was not possible. I was skinny, awkward, and worst of all left-handed. I wanted to run track but Bruce Waha scared the sh*t of out me; tried tennis but was talent-free in that sport too. What I did not realize fully at the time was that I was this closeted gay boy who was clueless.
